Can You Change the Colors, Base, or Elements on My Design?

Quick answer: Yes to all of it. Color swaps, Pantone matching, adding a mascot or line of text, and removing elements you've decided against are all standard revision requests, and revisions are unlimited and free.

The mockup you get back is a starting point, not a final answer. Nothing goes to production until you've signed off.

Base color vs. design color

These get conflated constantly, so it's worth separating them:

• Base color is the sock body itself: what most of the sock looks like before any branding.
• Design colors are the logo, pattern, stripes, and accents layered on top.

Both are changeable. If you saw a design shown in black and want it in white, navy, heather grey, or a color pulled from your brand palette, that's a routine change, not a special request. White is the suggested base color as it displays the vibrancy of colors on your design. 

What you can change:

• Swap any color: accents, stripes, logo fill, cuff, or the base
• Match a Pantone: exact matching available sublimated designs. For knit designs, we choose the closest available thread.
• Adjust brightness or saturation: make it pop more or pull it back to something more muted
• Add elements: a secondary logo, mascot, tagline, year, or hashtag
• Remove elements: drop a background graphic, delete extra text, simplify a busy layout
• Move things around: reposition between the sole, calf, and cuff

None of this carries a design fee.

How to get the color right on the first pass

Specificity saves rounds. In order of usefulness:

1. A Pantone number: the gold standard, gets you closest fastest
2. A hex code: nearly as good, easy to pull from a brand guide or website
3. A reference: your site, a PDF brand guide, a photo of an existing product
4. A description: "a bit more of a navy" works, it just takes more rounds

If your brand guide specifies Pantones, send it. It's the difference between two revision rounds and five.

Why construction affects how exact a match can be

How precisely a color can be hit depends partly on how the design is built into the sock:

• Knit (jacquard) designs use pre-dyed yarns in solid blocks. Extremely durable and vivid. The color is the yarn, not a heat press method, but it works from a defined palette of yarn colors rather than an infinite spectrum.
• Sublimated (printed) designs heat-transfer dye directly to polyester fibers, allowing finer gradation, gradients, and closer color-for-color matching. This is an excellent choice for more detailed concepts.

Adding a mascot, text, or a second logo

All standard. A few layout realities to plan around:

• Sock real estate is tall and narrow. Designs with a clear hierarchy (one hero element, smaller supporting pieces) read far better than five elements competing for the same space.
• Fine text and small, detailed mascots hit the same limits as intricate logos on knit-in socks. If your mascot has whiskers, we'll talk about sublimation.
• Elements can be distributed across zones (logo on the calf, wordmark on the cuff, icon on the sole) rather than stacked in one place.

FAQ

Is there a limit on how many colors I can use? Unlimited colours for sublimation socks. Max 5 colours for knit designs.

Does a revision reset my turnaround? No. Revisions happen before production starts, so they don't extend production itself. They just need to be finished before you approve.

How many revisions do I actually get? Unlimited. We'd rather do six rounds and get it right than ship something you're lukewarm about.

Can different sizes in one order have different base colors? Sometimes, depending on how the run is configured. We require a minimum of 30 pairs per size ordered / per design and colorway.
